Pumps, drains & controls

The parts that keep water moving and the farm watched.

Pumps lift the water, drains carry the waste, and the control cabinet runs the equipment and raises alarms. Below: how we size them, what to monitor, and what to plan for when the power goes.

Duty + standby

circulation pumps

Alarm

on flow, power and water quality

220/380/110 V

to suit your supply

Tested

with the system

What is included

Three parts of the system.

Bottom drains

Centre drains and drain lines take solids out of the tank and send water to the drum filter.

Pompa

Main circulation pumps sized on design flow and head, with standby pumps where the farm cannot stop.

Control cabinets

Start, stop and protection for pumps, drum filters, blowers and UV, with alarms for faults.
Pompa

Sized on flow and head, with a spare.

The main pump sets the flow through every stage. We size it on design flow, pipe losses and lift, then add a standby so a pump failure does not stop the loop.

Why monitor

Alarms before the fish notice.

A RAS fails fast. A 2025 study of a RAS monitoring system notes that pump failure “can lead to rapid ammonia increase, oxygen depletion, and mass mortalities within a short period of time”, and that the delay between a fault and its detection is a main source of production risk. In that trial, a pump alarm sent when the pump stopped from overheating was credited with preventing fish losses ().Malandrakis, Sensors, 2025

What to monitor

Sensors chosen on species and risk.

Not every farm needs every sensor. These are the ones we discuss on every project.

Signal
Mengapa ini penting
Typical response

Oksigen terlarut

Falls fastest when a pump, blower or oxygen supply fails

Alarm; backup oxygen opens

Pump running / current

A stopped pump stops every stage after it

Alarm; standby pump starts

Water level

A drop means a leak, a blocked drain or a stopped pump

Local alarm; phone alarm on a large drop

Suhu

Sets oxygen demand and growth

Alarm outside the set band

pH

Drifts as nitrification uses alkalinity

Alarm; check dosing

Power supply

Everything stops without it

Alarm; generator start

Alarm set points are agreed with you per species. We do not use one fixed list for every farm.

Plan for a power failure

What keeps fish alive until power returns.

A farm manager described a 5 a.m. power cut: blowers and pumps stopped, but fish were fine after 20 minutes because a backup diffuser in each tank switched on by itself. The primary generator would not start; the second one did ().Ebeling and Hightower, Global Aquaculture Advocate, 2010

Plan for

Emergency oxygen

Cylinders behind a valve that opens when power fails, feeding a diffuser in each tank

Cylinder stock and a regular test

Air-pressure trigger

A pressure switch opens the oxygen valve if aeration stops, even with power on

Covered by the same test

Generator

Starts on power loss through a transfer switch

Fuel, maintenance and a second unit if one fails

Alarm dialer

Calls several numbers when an alarm trips

At least two people on the call list

Why buy it from us

Standby designed in

Spare pumps and backup oxygen planned from the start.

Your power supply

220, 380 or 110 V, and your generator setup.

Fitted and tested

Supplied, fitted and tested with the system before it ships.

FAQ

Pumps and controls.

No. Pumps, valves and instruments are sourced from specialist makers. We size them, fit them and test them with the system.

It depends on species and risk. We agree the sensor list with you. Dissolved oxygen, pump status, water level and power are the usual starting point.

For the main circulation pump, yes, on almost every farm. A stopped pump stops every stage after it.

Tell us your backup power setup and we design the cabinet around it.

Yes. We plan a local alarm and a phone alert to more than one person.

That depends on backup. Plan emergency oxygen that opens on power loss, a generator, and an alarm that reaches someone who can respond.

Next step

Send the layout. We size the pumps and controls.

Tank layout, design flow and power supply are enough to start. A first layout and equipment list come back in 3 days.
